Phoenix Paper Wickliffe LLC is searching for qualified candidates to assume the role of Manufacturing Leader, Pulp Dryer.
Summary: Reporting directly to the Pulp Mill Area Leader, this position is an opportunity to be part of a stable, rapidly expanding organization that offers a tremendous amount of growth potential. The successful candidate will have leadership responsibility for the safe and environmentally compliant operation of the Pulp Dryer producing up to 300 tons per day. This is a salaried, exempt position.
Key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Cultivate a work environment centered on employee ownership and engagement
- Lead the department to achieve a safety and environmental incident-free workplace identifying critical hazards and mitigating the risk based on criticality
- Develop and execute plans to eliminate production bottlenecks and to minimize total manufacturing cost of the Dryer production units
- Optimize and coordinate planning for scheduled shutdowns, operator training, and maintenance and capital projects
- Accountable to meet the production, quality and cost plan for the Dryer operations.
- Provide daily support and technical expertise to area operators and maintenance personnel
- Support Crew Leaders in Operator training and qualification processes
- Lead the Dryer’s continuous improvement efforts with the help of department operators and maintenance teams
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering/Technical discipline or a minimum of ten (10) years of experience working in a pulp and paper mill required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience, preferably in Pulp or Dryer Operations.
- Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel (for use of spreadsheets, reporting, simple formulas) and Outlook (for internal and external correspondence)
- Experience communicating with all levels of the organization (i.e., via reports, e-mail, verbally, and/or in small/large group settings) in a team environment
- Experience in developing and implementing improvement processes and projects
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekend duty as necessary to manage facility performance
