We are looking for an exceptional Regulatory Services Supervisor to join our practice!
Physicians East, PA is a multi-specialty, multi-campus group based out of Greenville, NC offering a wide range of specialties. About the role
We are looking for an employee that can supervise the coding staff of the Regulatory Services Department. Remote and on-site position.
Supervision Received: Reports to Regulatory Services Manager.
Supervision Exercised: Supervises the coding staff in their daily duties and activities.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires prolonged standing or sitting while working in an office environment. Requires some bending or stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment. Requires the ability to distinguish between letters and/or symbols. Requires normal vision range and the absence of color-blindness.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the coding staff
- Monitors assigned team members performance, productivity, and conducts annual performance evaluations
- Conducts routine coder audits to assess quality, accuracy, and provide education/feedback
- Serve as back up for Audit Review emails if volume becomes excessive
- Monitor daily volume of team members work distribution and prioritize accordingly or as directed by manager
- Monitor and resolve missing charge reconciliation for assigned providers/departments
- Serve as back up for coding if charge lag exceeds goal
- Assist with claim analysis reporting (CAR report) as it relates to coding issues and oversight of RCX rules coding edits
- Assists manager with the development and maintenance of departmental policies, procedures, and educational content
- Informs manager of revisions needed to encounter forms, EHR documentation system, or practice management system impacting diagnoses or procedures
- Remains current on all regulatory coding changes, payor specific requirements, coding processes, and compliance that affect coding accuracy and educates staff accordingly
- Assist with training of new staff on coding services, workflows, and department processes
- Educates physicians and employees on coding issues by specialty when coding or documentation issues are identified
- Research coding denials to identify trends and reduce the number of future coding related denials
- Tracks coding issues and reviews coding inaccuracies to highlight areas of improvement
- Maintains a library of coding material and relevant resources to be available to personnel, when necessary
- Acts as a coach and positive role model for staff and colleagues while establishing/maintaining a positive work environment
- Reports all identified coding compliance audit issues to the Regulatory Services Manager
- Assist with student interns from H.I.T. and H.I.M. Programs completing PPE assignment
- Attends meetings when required
- Complete any other assignment, project, or priority as directed by Regulatory Services Manager
Location & commitments
Permanent full-time role based out of our Greenville Arlington Blvd. location, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Occasional overtime may be required to meet department goals.
Remote and onsite position.
Flexible schedule.
Candidate must be located in North Carolina
Candidate requirements
Bachelor’s degree in health information services with RHIA certification and 2-3 years of multi-specialty ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS coding experience OR,
Associates degree in health information technology with RHIT certification and 3-5 years of multi-specialty ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS experience OR,
CPC/CCS-P certification and 4-6 years of multi-specialty ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS experience
3 plus years of Medicare and commercial coding/billing experience in a multi-specialty practice required
Must have strong keyboarding, software, analytical and organizational skills. Must possess strong understanding of customer service principles and have well-developed written and oral skills.
