What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Plastech Corporation?
The Buyer is primarily responsible for purchasing goods, materials, or components in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets. You will be responsible for ensuring that materials, equipment, and supplies are ordered and delivered in a timely manner. The Buyer also reacts to and maintains purchase order action messages daily to maintain inventory levels. This position also ensures individual procurement activity aligns with department objectives to increase inventory turns and minimize inventory levels. The Buyer regularly monitors existing orders to react quickly to changing customer demand.
Hours Available:
- 1st Shift - Monday thru Friday
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or business administration and minimum of three years of related experience.
- 3 years of purchasing/supply chain experience.
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (IQMS is a plus).
- Negotiating skills and problem-solving skills required.
- Maintains and updates records and supplier’s files.
- Procures all material requirements, negotiates prices, delivery schedules.
- Resolve problems that affect discrepant material, damaged goods, incorrect pricing, supply quality, and delivery schedules.
- Act as liaison between supplier and plant personnel to expedite and ensure timely delivery of purchased materials and services according to production schedule and inventory needs.
- Identifies methods for ensuring material cost parameters are maintained and/or improved.
Salary range is $55,000 to $60,000/year.
