The Project Accountant will be the hands-on accountant for the entire accounting cycle on various projects. The ideal candidate will be a team player, able to prioritize a variety of tasks, and have excellent time management and organizational skills. Computer knowledge and adaptability, the ability to learn quickly, and having strong written and verbal communication skills are also essential. Job Responsibilities:
- Set up original and analyze job budget estimates throughout the project
- Issue and track all subcontracts and purchase orders
- Review, enter and process subcontractor invoices and change orders, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
- Process owner change orders and create the entire billings package to owner
- Perform job cost analysis and make adjustments as needed
- Track owner contracts, subcontractor documents and vendor purchase orders
- Prepare journal entries as required
- Prepare job projections throughout the project and monitor profit fade/gain and revenue recognized on the projects
- Monitor compliance and waivers on the projects
- Close out projects as needed including final accruals and adjustments
- Attend weekly accounting meetings and owner meetings as needed
- Effectively communicate with Project Managers (PM) regarding contract documents, amendments, approvals, and any additional services related to billing
- Provide support to the Project team and ensure financial information accuracy for project reporting
- Direct financial communication with the project team as needed
- Research any unbilled issues to optimize the billing amounts for the billing period
- Ensure all subcontract invoices conform to their contract
- Ensure proper project costing monthly
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent construction experience
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, being well-versed in GAAP
- Hands on experience in project accounting, preferably in construction
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent Excel skills and high proficiency in Word and Outlook
- Experience with Vista a plus
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities; excellent process, project, and technology competencies required
- High personal and professional integrity
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative, set priorities, and follow through
- Creative thinker with the proven ability to spot issues or inefficiencies
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and respond to changes in priorities
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
