Job Description:
Portledge School seeks to hire a dynamic upper school mathematics teacher to temporarily serve as a parental leave replacement during the coming school year. This individual should be driven to create a classroom environment where student learning is a non-negotiable goal and passion is evident on a daily basis. Responsibilities include teaching 5 sections of mathematics, participating collegially in meetings and initiatives of the mathematics department, serving as a guiding advisor to assigned advisory group of Upper School students, and taking an active role in the life of the school community. This position would report directly to the Upper and Middle School Division Head. This is a temporary, full-time position spanning several weeks of scheduled parental leave from November 2023 - March 2024.
The ideal candidate will have a strong mathematics background with the flexibility to effectively teach all courses listed, from Algebra 1 and Statistics to Advanced Algebra across grades 9 -12.

Qualifications:
- BA Degree minimum; advanced degree preferred in relevant area(s)
- Teaching certification preferred
- Candidates with formal teaching experience given preference
- Superb written and oral communication as well as organizational and time management skills
- Ability to comfortably, warmly, and effectively engage with large and small groups of adults and/or students in professional or social settings
- Belief in the value of all types of diversity with a commitment to social justice and equity
- Anti-racism/anti-bias training preferred
