Job Summary and Qualifications

• Schedules tests/procedures as requested by hospital customers with efficiency and accuracy, while maintaining a positive and accommodating attitude.
• Repeats times/dates/test/procedures at the conclusion of the scheduling session.
• Handles all calls in an efficient manner to decrease wait times for customers.
• Ensures patients are scheduled with the appropriate status type; i.e. Inpatient, Surgical Day Care, Clinical, Recurring as well as the accuracy of the account number chosen.
• Maintains understanding of complexities of the services to be scheduled and the requirement thereof. Keeps manual updated with current material.
• Assists patients, ancillary departments, physicians, and physician office staff in a prompt, courteous manner. Is pleasant and supportive with all hospital customers.
• Uses computer systems accurately.
• Performs general clerical duties as delineated by nursing unit, i.e. patient data logs, unit reports, work orders, etc.
• Assists in maintaining adequate inventory of clinical/non-clinical supplies.
• Demonstrates respect and sensitivity in dealing with patients/ families/significant others.
• Communicates patient requests/needs to nursing personnel in a timely manner.
• Assists with communication between health team members as requested

Experience:

• 1-3 years of experience is preferred
• High school diploma or GED is required
