What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Engineer position at PPG Industries, Inc?
As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that products manufactured at the PPG Huntsville Aerospace Transparency facility meet customer's requirements for conformity, continuously support products and processes, and foster customer satisfaction. You will proactively identify quality, product, process, and production issues for timely improvement and corrective/preventative actions to ensure zero impact to the customer must be your passion.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform process validations and maintain validation procedures that conform to General Manufacturing Processes and ISO requirements.
- Implementing methods to inspect, test and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing processes, products and production equipment
- Inspecting and testing materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are achieved and maintained.
- Ensure all product or service meets the established standards of quality including reliability, usability and performance required for distribution and the market.
- Interacting regularly with Engineering, Production, Lean, and Supply Chain to resolve and prevent product issues and quality escapes.
- Develop corrective actions, solutions, and improvements.
- Participate in APQP/ PPAP projects.
- Perform First Article Inspections on PPG products in accordance with AS9102.
- Participating in analyzing rejected or returned product for conformance to specifications and associated corrective actions when required.
- Occasional (20% or less) travel to support multiple customers in the US and internationally.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering, quality assurance, or related technical field preferred
- 3 years of quality engineering related experience within a manufacturing environment required, preferably within an aerospace/OEM company.
- US Citizen
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers at a high level, and representing PPG quality management.
- Preferred experience includes: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE); Quality Engineering in Aerospace/Automotive Manufacturing; APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Controls Plans; Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma; Design Engineering; Root Cause Corrective Action; Corrective Action Board; Material Review Board; Familiarity working within an AS9100 compliant QMS; Thorough understanding of AS9102.
