What are the responsibilities and job description for the Turf Team position at PRAIRIE BAND POTAWATOMI ENTERTAINMENT CORP?
Responsible for maintaining golf grounds and turf to ensure the ideal playing condition and quality of the daily golf operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates tractor, weed eater, mowers, tractors, trencher, vehicles and equipment using specific attachments as needed
- Perform semi-skilled and skilled tasks involving the maintenance, construction and repair of golf course
- Tills, cultivates, grade, new turf areas to apply prescribed amounts of lime, fertilizer, insecticide plus fungicide
- Mows rough and fairway areas at designated cut, exercising care not to injure turf or shrubs
- Cuts turf on green and tee areas, using hand mower and/or power mower
- Connects hose sprinkler systems at designated points on course to irrigate turf
- Digs as well as rakes ground to prepare new greens, grades cleans traps, and also repairs roadbeds, using shovels, rakes, spades, and also other tools
- May plant, trim, and also spray trees shrubs
- Responsible for keeping cart barn, clubs, bags and storage bins in a clean, orderly condition
- Returns all equipment to the designated location at the facility
- Performs light custodial operations such as sweeping, mopping, washing equipment and collecting trash as needed
- Adheres to regulatory, departmental, and company policies in an ethical manner and encourages others to do the same
- Other duties as assigned by Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
Required
- Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
- Must have knowledge of the game of golf
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Professional appearance as outlined in the Prairie Band Casino & Resort Team Member Handbook
- Must be able to work independently and function as a member of a team
- A record of satisfactory performance and reliability in all prior and current employment
Preferred
- High school graduate or equivalent
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to frequently stand, walk or sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to frequently climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach.
- Must have close visual acuity in order to operate equipment.
- Must be able to work outdoors under conditions ranging from extreme hot to extreme cold.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and frequently up to 20 lbs. using proper lifting techniques.
