General Summary:
The Paper Machine Operator job consists of assisting all co-workers with setting up and maintaining production of paper making equipment. Included in their duties is ensuring that they read the order properly, ensure all raw materials are available, ensure proper set-up of equipment, and preventative machine maintenance while following all safe work practices.
Candidates must:
Be able to solve problems independently
Be able to multitask
Be able to work independently and as part of a team
Be able to follow directions
Interpret data from a computer system
Be able to use hand tools
Be able to read a tape measurer
Have a strong mechanical aptitude
Be able to move quickly with their feet
Be able to stay on their feet for 12 hours
Be ultra-cognizant of their surroundings and potential hazards
Be able to lift 50 pounds
Be able to climb stairs & ladders
Be able to tolerate a hot (100 degree) climate
Be able to work 12 hour rotating shift roster (day and nights, including weekends and holidays)
Be highly motivated
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Monitor machines, equipment, and processes
Housekeeping to include washing up, raking up paper, shoveling debris, etc.
Small repairs of paper mill equipment
Perform test on either raw material or finished product
Perform fast walking rounds of work area continuously
Install paper machine clothing
Produce a quality paper with little down time and waste
Qualifications:
High School Diploma required
College Degree is preferred
Military Background is a plus
