Summary
The Production Manager oversees the operations of the entire production facility (excluding purchasing, personnel, and non-production functions), with a focus on the Converting department. Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations
- Provide full production support, with a strong emphasis on converting machine performance.
- Maximize productivity and minimize downtime through effective resource management.
- Coordinate with Maintenance on PMs, MVP, and machine uptime goals.
- Oversee converting production, including equipment installation and major repairs.
- Support cost-reduction strategies and drive productivity improvements.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety protocols, and quality standards.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure plant focus on quality processes and tools for each converting machine.
- Maintain plant housekeeping standards and ensure machine cleaning programs are current.
- Drive safety initiatives and uphold OSHA, EPA, and company regulations.
- Oversee all audit protocols (third-party, customer, and internal).
Leadership & Supervision
- Directly supervise Converting employees and supervisors.
- Set and communicate quality, efficiency, and production standards.
- Provide training, coaching, conflict resolution, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action as needed.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and high morale.
Administrative & Strategic Support
- Evaluate new methods, machinery, and safety programs; contribute to planning, budgeting, and purchasing.
- Maintain optimal staffing levels daily.
- Communicate issues to the General Manager in a timely manner.
- Remain on-call and available after hours to address urgent production issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- 10 years of experience in corrugated manufacturing
- 5 years of proven management experience in a production environment
Preferred
- College degree
- Experience with Ward Servo Pro Die Cutters, Bobst 8.2, and Gopfert Die-Cutters
- 5 years in converting manufacturing operations
- 2 years in a supervisory role
- Proficiency in Lean/5S, OSHA, EPA regulations
- Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting skills
- Strong project management and coaching abilities
