Medical Biller
Purpose
Handle all aspects of assigned payers given by management. Billers will read charts and make sure codes are assigned correctly and sequenced appropriately while complying with medical coding guidelines and policies. Medical Billers will work closely with management and providers to ensure proper billing protocols are implemented. Billers will present documentation and research on set payers to management and team as new payer procedures are sent out and will also assist management with duties and ensure smooth workflow in billing department.
Tasks
Ensure codes are assigned correctly to claims
Review patient charts and documents for verification and accuracy
Collect information from different sources and prepare monthly reports
Verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors
Operate typing, adding, calculation, or billing machines
Prepare itemized statements, bills, or invoices and record amounts due for items purchased or services rendered
Perform bookkeeping work, including posting data or keeping other records
Resolve discrepancies in records
Type billing documents, credits, patient correspondence
Contact customers to obtain or relay account information
Compute credit terms, discounts, or rates of goods or services to complete billing documents
Answer mail or telephone inquiries
Post insurance and patient payment according to EOB
Other duties as assigned

High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
Experience
2 Years Medical Experience
CPC/CPB certification or active enrollment in course
Knowledge
Clerical- knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology
Complex Problem Solving Skills – Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
