Description

The Village At Summerville is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Maintenance I - Landscape Technician to join our team to create a warm hospitality experience for all our residents, staff and visitors. In this position, you will enjoy working with a passionate team to provide quality service throughout our community. "Offering progressive sign on bonuses to the full-time employees" The Landscape Technician is responsible for performing a variety of landscape maintenance and installation tasks to ensure the aesthetic quality and health of outdoor spaces. This role involves working with a team to complete landscaping projects, including mowing, planting, trimming, irrigation, and the care of plants and trees. The technician should have a strong understanding of horticulture, garden design, and proper equipment use, ensuring that all work is done efficiently and safely. Key Responsibilities:

  • Landscape Maintenance:
    • Mow lawns, edge walkways, and trim bushes and hedges.
    • Water and fertilize plants, trees, and grass to ensure proper growth.
    • Remove weeds, dead plants, and debris from garden beds and lawns.
    • Apply pesticides and herbicides when necessary, following safety protocols.
  • Installation Tasks:
    • Plant new flowers, shrubs, trees, and grass according to design specifications.
    • Assist with hardscaping tasks, such as laying sod, planting beds, installing irrigation systems, and setting up outdoor features (e.g., patios, walkways, retaining walls).
    • Assist in setting up irrigation systems and performing regular checks and maintenance.
  • Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
    • Safely operate landscaping equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other tools.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment, ensuring all tools are in proper working condition.
  • Client Relations:
    • Interact with clients to understand their landscape needs and offer solutions or improvements.
    • Communicate any issues or concerns regarding plant health or project completion to the supervisor or client.
  • General Duties:
    • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
    • Follow safety guidelines and wear proper safety gear when operating equipment.
    • Participate in team meetings to discuss project progress, schedules, and other relevant issues.

Requirements

  Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in landscaping, horticulture, or groundskeeping is preferred.
  • Knowledge of plant care, lawn maintenance, and irrigation systems.
  • Ability to safely operate landscaping equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers).
  • Physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including lifting, bending, and walking for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if required for the position).
  • Basic knowledge of safety practices and regulations in landscaping.

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
  • Potential for long hours during peak seasons, including weekends or holidays as needed.
