The Laboratory Technician performs testing and evaluations of asphalts and related materials; paving, roofing and industrial products. Tests and evaluations are conducted by defined standardized methods issued by recognized industry established agencies/associations and by protocols established in the private sector. The Lab Technician reports the test results that are used for specification compliance, product development and/or improvement, forensic investigations and other technical services provided by PRI.
Duties and responsibilities
- Evaluation of asphalt & related materials in a lab environment
- Responsible for proper use and care of lab instruments
- Read and understand specifications and applicable test methods
- Test(s) to be performed in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and other test methods and project specifications
- Learns and becomes proficient in defined testing protocols for Penetration, Viscosity and Performance Grade Binder Testing
- Responsible for testing in a timely manner and providing management with daily reports
- Accurately report test findings and observations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement Bachelor of Science
- Lab experience preferred but not required
- Ability to read, comprehend and implement standard lab protocols
- Requires a high energy, level headed person willing to work hard
- Ability to work clean and organized
- Must have the ability to keep it together in a deadline driven environment
