Patient Services Representative support the non-clinical administrative tasks and duties within the clinic. Areas include scheduling, medical records, and front desk.
- Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone to answer or refer inquiries.
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
- Serves patients by greeting and helping them, checking in appointments, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance.
Scheduling
- Answer scheduling calls from scheduling phone que.
- Schedule and reschedule patient(s) for appointments with physicians per physician scheduling criteria.
- Schedule lab appointments.
- Verify and check insurance eligibility with insurance carriers.
- Work in EMR system and contact patients for appointments.
- Work in EMR Buckets for scheduling, portal messages, prescription call out and patient messages.
- Screen patients for scheduling.
- Check-out patients who need to schedule another appointment.
- Ensure patient(s) are aware of outstanding balances and ensure payment with scheduling appointments.
- Check “alerts” before scheduling patient for problematic accounts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Front Desk
- Schedule and/or reschedule appointments.
- Keeps patient appointments on schedule by checking in patients upon arrival
- Comforts patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties, answering patients’ questions, and maintaining the reception area.
- Time of service of collections with collecting outstanding balances and collecting copays from patients
- Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
- Obtains revenue by recording and collecting patient charges, controlling credit extended to patients, and filing, and collecting.
- Ensure new patient paperwork and annual patient paperwork is completed with check in.
- Assist within scheduling and medical records.
- Assemble new patient packets.
- Others duties as assigned.
Medical Records
- Answer phones.
- Retrieves existing medical records by gathering appropriate record folders and contents.
- Verifying existing records; inputting and processing documents.
- Logging and processing paperwork dropped off for physician/nurse to be completed.
- Run cart and process incoming and outgoing mail.
- Process electronic documents in EMR.
- Medical releases and medical request.
Qualifications ·
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Strong computer skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner at all times.
- Computer literate. (comfortable on computer, internet, email system, working fax/copier)
- Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies.
- Dependable and reliable attendance.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Typing of 30 WPM.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
