Sr. Electrical Engineer

Primary Talent Partners has a new 9 month contract Sr. Electrical Engineer opening with a medical device company operating out of Minneapolis, MN. Potential contract extension or direct-hire conversion is dependent upon performance, budget, and business needs.

Pay: $65 to $75/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment.
Schedule: Mon to Fri, standard Business hours - 5 days onsite required

Description:
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer Contractor with electrical product development experience in medical devices to join our Neuromodulation Engineering Team in Rice Creek, Minnesota. Our mission is to become the world leader in neuromodulation, enhancing patient lives through cutting-edge solutions. Our therapies range from early interventional procedures to implantable technologies that relieve pain, restore function, and improve quality of life.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will work alongside a team of engineers and technicians to develop and bring new products to market. Your primary focus will be on electrical test method development, validation, and verification testing for the next-generation patient care instrument platform, which programs Neurostimulator systems for Deep Brain Stimulation, Spinal Cord Stimulation, and Sacral Nerve Modulation.

This role requires expertise in regulatory and safety standards that govern electrical product development for medical devices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Characterize and verify new product designs, including analog, digital, and embedded systems for patient care instruments.
• Design, execute, and validate test methods to ensure adherence to standards, product specifications, and system requirements.
• Apply theory and practical knowledge of antennas (LF & HF), matching circuitry, and radios within patient programmers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Electrical, Systems, Firmware, and IC Design) to troubleshoot design issues and conduct characterization and verification of electrical designs.
• Perform product performance analysis using DFSS techniques.
• Validate test environments comprising custom RF equipment, software, and test methods.
• Develop test methods and coordinate with certified test houses for global regulatory standards compliance, including IEC60601, ISO 14708-3, FCC, and ETSI.
• Work with minimal supervision while ensuring adherence to quality policies and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with international teams and travel globally as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience OR an advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• Medical Device Industry Experience.
• Experience in electrical design and development for patient care instruments.
• Hardware integration experience with RF subsystems.
• Hands-on experience designing analog and digital circuitry on custom PCBs.
• Experience with verification and validation of Class II and Class III medical devices.
• Experience in developing automated test benches.
• Expertise in validating test scripts, methods, and systems.

Key Experience Areas (Top 3 Skills):

• 4 years of Electrical Product Development experience for Class III medical devices and/or Patient Care Instruments.
• Experience developing and validating test methods and systems for verification of Class III medical devices and/or Patient Care Instruments.
• Electrical design experience with analog and digital circuitry on custom PCBAs.
