About This Role:
The Maintenance & Operations Specialist is responsible for maintaining grounds and amenities at County parks, buildings, and schools. The ideal candidate enjoys physical exertion as much as operating equipment. Responsibilities may include turf maintenance, athletic field maintenance, landscape maintenance and park amenity maintenance. Responsibilities typically require adaptation of procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques to meet the specialized requirements of the position. The Maintenance & Operations Specialist applies procedures and standards to specific situations and works under general supervision. This position serves as a team lead and assignss/delegate work assignments to temporary employees, and/or regular employees; troubleshoot problems and issues commensurate with relevant experience.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years of maintenance and operations experience.

Work Schedule:
This is a 7-day per week operation. Typical workday is 7.5 hours, Monday-Friday with some rotating weekend requirements. Schedule is generally 7am-3pm with slight variations for start and stop times.

- Experience working with a team in a leadership role.
- Experience working and interacting with and around customers – both internal and external to an agency/organization.
- Experience operating various equipment including but not limited to zero turn mower, multiple deck mower, loaders, truck and trailer combinations, etc.
- Experience working outdoors and in adverse weather conditions.
- Experience working a varied schedule including weekends and holidays.

Special Requirements:
- Class A CDL required.
- VA Fertilizer Applicator certification required.
- VA Registered Technician Pesticide Applicator certification required.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass local, state and federal background check.
- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- May be required to respond to emergencies after normal working hours, as needed.
