What are the responsibilities and job description for the Collections and Freight Classification Specialist position at PRO TRANS INTERNATIONAL?
SUMMARY
Work closely with the Collections Team on general administrative tasks to ensure payment processing of invoices. Also work closely with Cost Analysis and AR to reclass shipments based on reporting provided.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Collections related:
- Provide requested invoice documentation as needed for the processing of payments, which can include printing, resubmitting and uploading of materials.
- Complete customer specific reporting based on due dates.
- Identify any gaps with associated paperwork/ invoices and report those details to the collector assigned to the account.
- Pull required data from FA&P companies’ websites.
Freight Classification related:
- Help to determine if additional charges should be billed based on incorrectly filled out BOLs.
- Help determine the freight class of a shipment by considering factors like density, handling, and liability.
- Help select the appropriate NMFC codes for a shipment. Every NMFC code corresponds to a specific freight class.
- Help calculate the density of a shipment's commodities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School diploma. Proficiency in Microsoft Access and Excel. Strong PC skills are required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Employees in this position must have excellent impersonal and communication skills that contribute to a team environment. This position requires the ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English. Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus, but not required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic math skills are required.

The position requires the physical ability to speak on the phone and work on a computer for several hours at a time. There is the need for filing, bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting boxes up to 30 lbs. General upkeep is required of the personal workspace and department area. It may be necessary to climb and descend stairs daily and evacuate the building in case of emergency.
