DEFINITION

Primary responsibility is to maintain specified & routine indirect materials at appropriate levels. Monitor and give feedback as to over usage of materials and ways for improving the production processes. Special order requests will be purchased thru the Purchasing Agent.  Maintain good relationships with vendors and have zero stock outs.  Other duties include the purchasing of tools, parts, supplies including office supplies, or services necessary for the operation of this establishment.  In addition, the individual must continually strive to improve the purchasing abilities of this position and company. 

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the Purchasing Agent Position:

  • Timely requisition of Materials (Defined Indirect, Direct, and Employee parts).
    • Ensure accurate & on time requisition of all Short-Term materials while ensuring proper levels needed in order to keep up with changing production schedules.
  • Run order replenishment daily, create and print PO’s pertaining to the Purchasing Agent position, accurately and efficiently to ensure consistency throughout all processes.
  • File all PO’s in appropriate Vendor files & keeping PO file drawer clean & up to date.
  • Work with vendors on pricing of indirect materials, shop and employee items, as well as research any Special-Order Requests in a timely manner.
  • Work with Inventory Control to assess and track all inventory.
  • Follow up to ensure the timely receiving of materials (No Stock outs).
  • Manage all packaging needs thru ordering, changes with art, vendor, etc.
  • Work with vendors in resolving any possible discrepancies with quantities, quality, or price.
  • Be involved in Indirect Materials testing, and second sourcing research with I.M. materials (Excluding CNC Cutting Tools).
  • Copier Toners, Big Machines & Little Machines, Toner ordering for all machines, maintaining current list of all small personal copiers, & maintenance agreement needs with big machines, scheduling service calls etc. excluding signing of any contracts.
  • Maintain Outsourcing report to ensure proper communications with Operations Team of all outsourced items in process.
  • Keep all IP’s (Individual Plans) & Individual KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) accurate & up to date to ensure proper communications with Supervisor.
  • Communicate & coordinate with supervisor weekly to ensure all projects & duties are completed on time.
  • Help in the receiving process while remaining compliant with Receiving SOP’s as needed.
  • Maintain and continually update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All cleaning and safety procedures must be followed.
  • Be able to use computers and spreadsheets to further the Purchasing Agent position
  • Display & e2 assembly
  • Assist in the performing of cycle counts when needed.
  • Expected to participate in a variety of goals/projects to achieve continual improvement.
  • Has the possibility to use forklifts, machines, and company vehicles if needed.
  • Performing other duties as necessary to ensure coverage and completion.
  • Individual must have the ability and desire to communicate with Vendors
  • Errands

 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/physical demands/work environment:

Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee may be occasionally required to lift 40 to 60 lbs.  In addition may be required to view a computer monitor for extended periods of time.  The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions and including extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
