Role Overview
The Enterprise Architect will support the Commonwealth's CEDC organization by leading enterprise architecture strategy, modernization planning, and cross platform integration efforts. This role focuses on aligning technology solutions with business goals, regulatory mandates, and citizen service outcomes while ensuring secure, scalable, and standards based architectures across the enterprise.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop, publish, and maintain enterprise reference architectures, standards, and roadmaps.
- Lead modernization initiatives transitioning legacy systems to cloud native or hybrid architectures.
- Architect and oversee integrations with enterprise platforms including Azure, Salesforce, and Appian.
- Design secure, scalable cloud solutions aligned with Commonwealth security frameworks, federal regulations, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with agency and business stakeholders to ensure architecture supports operational and citizen engagement objectives.
- Provide technical guidance and architectural oversight to development teams and project managers.
- Define and promote data interoperability strategies while ensuring compliance with record retention and data protection policies.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies to improve service delivery, reporting, and efficiency.
- Maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, standards, and future state roadmaps.
- Translate complex technical strategies into clear, actionable guidance for non technical stakeholders.
- Support architecture governance by reviewing solution designs and validating compliance with enterprise policies.
- Develop business capability models aligned with strategic goals and regulatory mandates.
- Collaborate across business, data, application, and infrastructure domains to deliver integrated enterprise solutions.
- Influence without direct authority, serving as a trusted advisor to IT leadership, business partners, and project teams.
- Six years of professional information technology experience and a bachelor's degree, or
- Ten years of professional information technology experience, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Application development and modernization initiatives.
- Enterprise reference architectures and technology standards.
- API design and secure system integrations.
- Cloud solution architecture, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Developing and executing technology roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
- Translating complex technical concepts into actionable guidance for diverse stakeholders.
- TOGAF 9.x, Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Salesforce Certified Application Architect.
- Experience supporting state or federal government organizations.
- Familiarity with low code platforms, especially Appian for case management and workflow driven systems.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, geospatial systems, or regulatory data standards.
- This is a hybrid role. The schedule will be determined by the hiring manager.
- The selected candidate must report onsite on the first and last day of the engagement to inventory and confirm Commonwealth issued equipment.
- Candidates must present a valid state or federal photo ID during the interview process.
- The role is authorized for up to 40 hours per week. Overtime is not permitted without prior written approval.
