Position Title: Synthesis Radiochemist

Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Synthesis Radiochemist opportunity.

Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct large scale laboratory synthesis of molten salts by performing chemistry and processes in high temperature molten salts
• Adhere to developed procedures to perform batched synthesis and purification of both coolant and uranium-bearing molten salts.
• Prepare molten salt samples with diverse compositions to be used in a variety of ongoing R&D projects
• Prepare or assist with technical reports, peer review manuscripts, intellectual property documents and conference presentations.
• Maintain laboratory procedures (e.g., calibration, analytical methods, notebook results preparation, usage documentation).
• Perform all work in compliance with site safety and radiation protection guidelines, including effective teamwork and communication with health physicists, authorized users and RSO.
• Emphasize safety in new and existing designs and safe practices in all experimental activities.
• Perform other general duties associated with position as member of the team to ensure ongoing effectiveness and continuous improvement of R&D efforts.
  
  
  

Job Qualifications:

• One of the following two qualification criteria needs to be met:
• A Master’s level degree in chemistry, radiochemistry, materials science, physics, or a related subject and 0-2 years of relevant experience, or
• A bachelor’s level degree in related disciplines and 0-4 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated hands-on Chemistry laboratory experience. Laboratory experience in radiochemistry, inorganic synthesis, and/or radiochemical synthesis is strongly preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with at least 2 laboratory and characterization methods that include but are not limited to tube furnace operations, pressure vessel operations, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and pXRD in addition to other common laboratory analytical techniques is desired.
• Demonstrated experience working in inert and moisture-free atmospheres, such as gloveboxes and Schlenk lines is a plus.
• Hands on experience in handling actinide salts in gloveboxes and fume hoods is a plus.
• Demonstrated performance within multifunctional teams and in the execution of complex projects is desired.
• Experience working and communicating productively in a multidisciplinary team including R&D, production, quality assurance, and engineering design functions.
• Ability to understand requirements (regulations, codes and standards, etc.), and incorporate them into company documents.
• Strong organizational and communication skills including technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.

• Job Type: Contract
• Pay Rate Range: $53-$70/hr.
• Location: Everett, WA.
