Summary: The Accounts Receivable Team Lead provides guidance, and instruction to a group of individuals for the purpose of achieving a key result or group of aligned results. Monitors the quantitative and qualitative achievements of the team and reports results to a Supervisor/Manager. The Team Leader (Accounts Receivable) job involves training and supporting a team of A/R associates who will be responsible for analysis of receivables due from healthcare insurance companies and initiation of necessary follow-up actions to get reimbursed. The Accounts Receivable Team Lead will also provide support to team to reduce AR ageing and optimize collections through effective management of both manual and automated processes.

Requirements

The essential qualities necessary include, but are not limited to:

  • Distributes the daily work to the AR Team including aging, denial management, and credit balance reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness of AR resolution for multiple external clients.
  • Reports AR billing issues and discrepancies to the AR Supervisor and assists with resolution.
  • Leads training sessions for new and existing AR staff.
  • Resolves reimbursement discrepancies by analyzing claim denial information and resubmitting claims to the appropriate insurance payer.
  • Approves financial transactions to ensure patient accounts are current.
  • Maintains multiple client dashboards and reports on detail to Client Account Management Team.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of insurance reimbursements and implements procedures that ensure optimum collection in a manner compliant with Federal and State regulations.
  • Prevents Timely filings issues through consistent follow up of protocols.
  • Reviews and corrects all coding related issues identified through claim scrub edits.
  • Communicates any trends back to AR Supervisor for training, development, and resolution.
  • Adhere to metrics for daily productivity and monthly collections goals.
  • Identifies claims denial trends and reports them to the AR Supervisor.
  • Ensures compliance with all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned within the scope of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to a satisfactory standard. Education: High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.

Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in AR/Medical billing is required. Working knowledge of clearinghouse and billing methods, terminology, and procedures. Previous leadership experience supporting a team of 5 staff members and CPC designation is preferred.

Language Skills: Demonstrated ability to exercise professional oral and written communication skills with all internal and

external audiences.

Computer Skills: Experience with medical billing software systems is required. Strong Microsoft Excel skills is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, TEAMs, Word, and PowerPoint is also required.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to organize and manage personal workload. Ability to achieve and maintain strong working knowledge of anesthesia billing operation practices.

The employee must occasionally be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time and up to the entire shift.
