Position Summary
The environmental permitting specialist is responsible for preparing and obtaining environmental permits from local, state, and federal regulatory agencies. Additional responsibilities include review of permit applications and provide regulatory guidance. This position will be hybrid of working in the office and in the field. This position can be based in our Warren, Wall Township or Cherry Hill, NJ offices.
Responsibilities
- Tracking of project environmental tasks, including stream and wetland delineation, cultural resource studies, threatened and endangered species, and stormwater planning, compliance, and management.
- Developing & executing project-specific environmental water & ecological permitting strategies.
- Managing project timelines, preparing estimates for environmental scopes of work regarding and tracking project closure steps for the team.
- Preparing and reviewing submittals and permit documents, to include collection and review of GIS, map creation, and permit inspection data within electronic file systems.
- Interfacing with project teams, field staff, regulatory agencies, and environmental consultants.
- Site visits to define permitting scopes and as well as construction review for demonstration with regulatory compliance.
- Documenting and reporting reviews, revisions, and submittals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, planning, environmental science, construction management or an equivalent field
- 5-7 years of experience
- NJDCA / NJDEP review and permitting experience, including working knowledge, and ability to demonstrate compliance with, New Jersey environmental, land use and construction regulations.
- Ability to interpret environmental and construction documents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with a diverse group of people, including non-technical staff.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products, including Word and Excel
- Confident working within challenging technical environments and the ability to multi-task, self-direct, and contribute to team efforts under demanding deadlines
- Valid driver’s license, ability to drive to project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in wetland delineation and construction management responsibilities and processes
