Job Summary:

Business Intelligence (B.I.) Solution
- Work with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements for enhancements (source data corrections, new data sources, changes to source systems) and submit to the relevant IT teams
- Perform thorough testing and validation of new enhancements by both IT and BI teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with IT or Salesforce
- Empower internal peers and clients to realize benefits of business intelligence via training, documentation, and on-going collaboration. Find opportunities to support & enhance self-service analytics for those outside of the B.I. department.
- Maintain functional and technical documentation around Tableau Cloud, data engineering, & business intelligence processes
- Participate in new client implementation efforts to identify unique data & reporting requirements. Assist in building out standard reports based on these needs and support further client-specific customization.
- Use Teamwork Desk ticketing system to monitor and organize incoming requests
- Use Teamwork Project (project management tool) to organize, plan, & track work
- Create, maintain, and document Tableau databases, fields, and their sources
- Understand different databases and applications in reporting requirements along with data validation, data mapping, and best practices in design
- Identify and assist in fixing inaccurate data, working with IT and business users to pinpoint root cause(s) of the issue in source systems or data pipelines
- Ensure data handling and reporting practices adhere to privacy regulations and company policies.
- Create comprehensive datasets by gather data from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets, and external data providers.
- Clean and preprocess data to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency. This may involve dealing with missing values, duplicates, and outliers.
- Create meaningful, visually appealing, & flexible reports using Tableau & Tableau Prep to communicate actionable insights to internal and external non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Engage with internal stakeholders and departments to identify opportunities to streamline processes and decision-making whether through dashboards, automated reports, or Excel formulas & macros.
- Assist stakeholders with ad-hoc requests for analyses using both internal and external data
- Communicate findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through presentations and documentation
- Maintain and improve reporting to respond to both changes in client strategy & business rules, as well as implementing new technologies and techniques
- Identify opportunities to design and iterate on products with scalability, flexibility, and maintainability in mind.
- Monitor usage and engagement of BI projects
- Develop deep understanding of organizational source systems and processes to support analyses, identify data quality issues, and improve solutions
- Work with stakeholders to grow domain knowledge of the broader logistics industry
- Work with stakeholders to gather requirements based on business needs and then translate them into appropriate business intelligence solutions
- Create and translate internal and client business data needs into the development and implementation of creative, enticing, and efficient dashboards, as well as maintenance and continual improvement of current dashboards & reporting
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the success of business initiatives and strategies.
- Keep well-informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in business intelligence and data analysis.
- Stay current with BI tools and latest features and capabilities to maximize their utility in data analysis and reporting.
- Learn from Business Intelligence Data Scientist and assist with data pipeline and report automation efforts
What You’ll Need
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Science, Data Engineering, or related fields preferred
- Hands-on experience with Tableau (or similar tools like Power BI, Qlik)
- Familiarity with Tableau Prep or other no/low-code data prep tools
- Moderate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas/macros for ad-hoc analysis
- Experience performing detailed analyses and communicating findings
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills with curiosity and persistence
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks and processes
- Strong sense of accountability and solution-oriented mindset
- Working domain knowledge of the domestic (US/CA) logistics industry or related areas (accounting, operations, sales, pricing, etc.)
- 1-2 years work experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Science, Data Engineering, or related fields.
- Knowledge of international logistics or global freight operations
- Familiarity with 3G TMS (Descartes)
- Experience with Teamwork Desk/Project or similar project/ticketing tools
- Exposure to below tools (or similar):
- Python
- SQL
- AWS
- DevOps
- GitHub
- Snowflake
