The Opportunity: The Bankruptcy Specialist will create and implement processes that result in improved business performance as it pertains to Bankruptcy. The ideal candidate wil make decisions and recommendations regarding Cram Downs, Redemptions, Objections and all other activities related to bankrupt accounts to mitigate overall risk and losses in the bankruptcy department.
What You Will Do:
- Respond to bankruptcy inquiries from courts, customers, attorneys and trustees and manage bankruptcy portfolio
- Identify and resolve filing deficiencies in an efficient manner by working with appropriate resources
- Administer bankruptcy processes, assess/remediate gaps on root cause analysis and approves all exception conditions or non-routine actions
- Drive initiatives to enhance adherence to local, state and federal regulatory compliance and deliver performance related to internal or external process changes
- Analyze, identify and correct data issues with systems used by the business
- Monitor all aspects of bankruptcy accounts, including court filings, payments received and deadlines
- Prepare and file bankruptcy proof of claims, reaffirmation agreements and notice
- Provide cross-training and subject matter expertise on processes when representing department in projects/meetings
- Notify the Servicing and Collections departments promptly to avoid violations of automatic stay
- Stay current on internal and external compliance procedures and bankruptcy laws including unique requirements at the federal, state and district level
The Experience You Will Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or in related field
- 1-3 years of bankruptcy experience
- Must possess basic understanding of fundamentals of Chapters 7 and 13 bankruptcy processes
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Able to present oneself professionally to customers, teammates, and all internal and external partners
- Display an ability to manage and raise concerns up to leadership
- Ability to work in high pressure environment and be self-motivated
- Strong organization skills and strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving skills
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent is a plus
