What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instruction Specialist position at Purdue University?
The Biology Instruction Specialist role is a full-time, fiscal year appointment. This position supports first year Biology 11000-11100, introductory courses for non-majors. Responsibilities include but are not limited to preparing lab activities, maintaining lab equipment, assisting faculty to develop new course materials and laboratory activities and guiding teaching assistants in proper lab practices. Each of the courses has been taught routinely, previously used materials are available. The Instruction Specialist maintains open lines of communication between themselves and essential staff, as well as with course faculty. Successful candidates will become part of a community committed to outstanding interdisciplinary undergraduate life science education. The Instruction Specialist is part of the Department and College of Science vibrant group of scholars engaged in STEM and discipline-based education research.

Education and Experience Needed:
- Bachelor of Science in Biology or a related field.
- Two (2) years of experience working with laboratory course at the university level
Skills Needed:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent laboratory skills and practices, including some basic chemistry
- Ability to work with diverse students and staff, including mentoring cross-culture teaching skills
