Postdoctoral Position in Applied Nuclear Physics in the Laboratory of Dr. Linda Nie at Purdue University
The laboratory of Dr. Linda Nie in the School of Health Sciences at Purdue University is seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join their team. This position involves developing nuclear technology-based systems and applying the new systems to enhance human health. Specifically, the candidate will work on a project aimed at developing a highly sensitive clinically viable neutron generator-based neutron activation analysis system to measure multiple metals and trace elements in human bone and soft tissue in vivo. The candidate will also help the PI to manage the lab. Preference will be given to individuals who have an in-depth understanding of neutron physics and experimental experience on neutron facilities. Experience on Monte Carlo simulation of radiation transportation is greatly valued. Dr. Nie's lab focuses exclusively on developing x-ray and neutron technologies, including synchrotron micro-x-ray techniques, and applying these innovative methods to study the effects of metals and trace elements on human health. Her lab also develops neutron and x-ray-based technologies for diagnosing and treating diseases. The candidate will have excellent opportunities to mentor graduate students, collaborate with distinguished researchers across various disciplines, manage research projects, and develop skills for careers in academia, national labs, or industry.

Education
Qualified applicants should have a Ph.D. in applied nuclear physics, nuclear science and technology, medical physics, radiation sciences, or a related discipline. The applicant should have documented experience in nuclear technology (e.g. neutron and x-ray technologies) and radiation sciences. The applicant is expected to have outstanding verbal and written communication skills with experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
