The Collections Manager is responsible for managing both the Collections team and the Bidder Qualification team. With a focus on developing and implementing strategies to optimize collection efforts, maintain proper bidder qualification standards, and ensure compliance with company policies. This manager must balance maintaining strong customer service standards while enforcing payment policies and minimizing risk to the organization. Success in this role requires both analytical thinking and interpersonal finesse to achieve departmental goals while supporting the company's broader objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, guidance, coaching, and direction to achieve department goals, by promoting the company vision, mission, and core values.
- Enforce team working agreements and accountability standards.
- Manage buyer relationships and payment workflows to maximize customer retention and ensure timely collections.
- Oversee the bidder qualification process, including bank reference, financial verification, and approval procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies regarding collections and credit verification.
- Undertake additional assigned duties as requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage, mentor, and inspire a motivated and high performing team.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and regular feedback to team members
- Set performance goals, conduct performance evaluations, and implement development plans for team members.
- Address any performance issues or conflicts within the team promptly and professionally.
Qualifications:
- Internal applicants are required to have prior Lead or Management experience within Purple Wave.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts receivable, credit management, or collections.
- Experience with credit verification and risk assessment processes.
- Demonstrates strong judgment and decisive action in fast-paced situations.
- Successfully led and motivated cross-functional teams while promoting professional growth and development.
- Spanish speaking bi-lingual candidates encouraged to apply.

Working Settings:
- Full-time Salaried Exempt, not eligible for overtime.
- Office hours are 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, additional hours may be required depending on priorities.
- Based in the Purple Wave headquarters in Manhattan, KS.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access various departments of a given location.
Compensation:
- The salary varies based on experience and qualifications, but typically ranges from $50,000 to $55,000 per year.
- Monthly Bonus Program - determined by the Company’s monthly revenue result and are paid on a “percent to plan” payout formula. (90% = $300, 100% = $600, 110% = $900, 120% = $1,200).
- Monthly phone stipend in accordance with the Company’s cell phone policy, currently $120/month.
- Health, Dental, and Vision starting the first of the month after 60 days of employment.
- 401(k) plan with an employer match up to 4% starting the first day of employment.
- Company-paid Life Insurance benefit of $25,000 with options to add more through employee contribution starting the first of the month after 60 days of employment.
- Personal Time Off (PTO) annual amount of 120 hours which is prorated based on the number of days between the 60th day of employment and the end of the calendar year. May vary to comply with state requirements.
- Eligible to participate in the Company Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP) after 90 days of employment, with enrollment opportunities each May and November.
