Description
Position will be weekend option night shift. Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7:00pm - 7:00am
| Job Summary: | The Respiratory Therapist will administer respiratory care and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities and will train and act as a resource for respiratory department technicians |
| Job Duties/Responsibilities: | |
| • | Administers all respiratory care as ordered by a provider |
| • | Completes continuing education and in-services to remain current with respiratory care practices |
| • | Records patient treatment, response, and progress |
| • | Inspects, tests, maintains, and operates respiratory therapy equipment |
| • | Responds to "code blue" calls and assists by maintaining the patient's airway and performing CPR |
| • | Give thorough and accurate report to oncoming staff at end of shift |
| • | Provides indicated respiratory care education to patients and family |
| • | Invasive and noninvasive ventilation, ABG collection and interpretation, oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, pulmonary hygiene |
| • | Performs other duties as assigned |
Qualifications
| Education Experience: | 2-Year College Degree |
| Years of Related Experience: | 1-2 Years |
| License/Certificate Required: | Yes |

| Job Requirements: | |
| • | Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Indiana |
| • | Graduate of CoARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved school of Respiratory Care |
| • | BLS and ACLS within 60 days of hire |
| • | Exceptional customer service skills |
| • | Excellent verbal and written communication skills |
| • | Strong analytical and problem-solving skills |
| • | Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn hospital's electronic medical record (CPSI) |
| • | Ability to work with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality |
| • | Abides by HIPAA guidelines |
