CAD Design Specialist
This role supports the creation, release, and maintenance of mechanical and electro‑mechanical documentation, including fabrication and assembly drawings. It partners closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to implement design updates, manage ECOs, and ensure accurate bills of material. The position also oversees part setup in SAP and ensures smooth documentation transfer from engineering to production.
This is an onsite role where the current expectation is to be onsite a minimum of four days a week in our Richardson TX office. This is subject to change based on business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead in mechanical fabrication drawings and interact with vendors
- Advanced electro-mechanical product assembly drawings
- Aide in ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) to release completed drawings and bills of material.
- Implement changes to existing documentation based on input from engineering and the manufacturing groups
- Initiate new part number requests in SAP system in support of engineering development programs
- Audit bills of material as they are transferred from engineering to manufacturing to ensure all documentation is transferred properly
Required Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- 4 years of drafting/design experience
- Expereince working with SolidWorks
- Tolerance stack up analysis, with GD&T background
- Ability to interface effectively with engineering and manufacturing groups to implement requested changes to documentation
- Experience working within AutoCAD & Microsoft office suite
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- An associates degree
- Experience in mechanical design work
- Experience with SolidWorks PDM Vault
- Experience with metal design
- Expereince with design for manufacturing
