What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic Trainer Intern position at Quad City Steamwheelers?
About This Role:
This internship is a full-season opportunity that coincides with the Indoor Football League (approximately February 2025 until August 2025). It is based in Moline, IL.
The role is intended to fully embed the intern within a professional sports organization, providing valuable learning experience within a high-performance model while actively supporting medical operations alongside our medical partner.
The intern’s schedule will change on a week-to-week basis, based on the needs of the organization. Travel is not required but could be allowed. This will be an opportunity for a future Athletic Trainer who is trying to gain a first time experience within a professional sports organization.
The ideal candidate will have experience with injury prevention, human movement correction, and be able to play an active role in developing our athletes. This role reports directly to the Steamwheelers Head Coach and our medical partner.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide daily practice medical coverage (includes taping, assisting our AT's, and ensuring our players are properly prepped for practice)
- Includes setup, breakdown, and field coverage as assigned
- Assist with daily treatment & rehabilitation of players as assigned by Head Coach and medical partner.
- Document appropriately
- Monitor form & movement patterns
- Attend weekly medical meetings with Head Coach to discuss reports, player progress, etc.
- Play an active role in creating a professional environment within the organization through player interactions, maintaining the standard, and driving culture
- Maintain cleanliness of athletic training areas on a daily basis
Minimum Qualifications:
- Competency in Microsoft Office software
- High level of adaptability; must be able to adjust on the fly to varying schedules
- CPR/AED Certified
