Job Summary / Objectives
We are seeking a motivated, skilled chemist to join our dynamic team for our Research and Development (R&D) Chemist / Production Scheduler position. The individual will lead various R&D activities based on strategic Company initiatives as well as use analytical thinking to oversee our production scheduling and ERP tool. The R&D Chemist’s goal is to investigate, test, and qualify product advancements for the OhmegaPly® RCM or other products as market demands dictate. The General Manager is responsible for approving the strategic R&D initiatives which will be investigated. It is expected that approximately 20-30 hours per week are dedicated to the R&D activities.

Job Responsibilities And Duties:
R&D Chemist
- Lead Company R&D initiatives as directed by Company management.
- Understand internal manufacturing processes and quality control requirements.
- Investigate, Test, and Evaluate chemistries against specifications for product development. Troubleshoot development as necessary.
- Design, write and perform test protocols.
- Analyze and report findings.
- Document all Laboratory results in LabWizard or similar program.
- Create /Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for each laboratory analysis, and tests performed.
- Manage multiple projects.
- Assist/Backup to Production Chemist, which includes analyzing and preparing additions to production tanks.
- Understand Hazardous Materials Handling & Compliance requirements.
- Practice good housekeeping and maintain the Laboratory and its equipment in operating and clean condition.
- Establish and maintain a multi-week production schedule for planning the RCM cycles to ensure Customer OTD
- Assist with reviewing/confirming Sales Order dates.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels for OhmegaPly RCM and Laminates in ERP system.
- Maintain Standard Operating Procedures as they pertain to the Scheduling and Inventory Management Processes.
- Assist with ERP Tool Management
- Follow up with inventory transactions.
Qualifications / Skills:
- B.S. Chemistry, Electrochemistry
- R&D experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred.
- Experience in electroplating industry preferred.
- Self-starter, fast learner and the ability to independently troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Ability to identify new opportunities and challenge ingrained assumptions.
- Experience with analytical reporting tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient with computer and information technology.
- Ability to work with others in a team environment.
- Demonstrates analytical decision making, accomplishes goals, and champions ethical business practices.
- To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government
- Work is normally performed in a combination of laboratory, office and plant environments.
- Physical effort required. Occasionally moves buckets and lifts 20 lbs.
- Frequently operates lab and pilot equipment.
- Frequent exposure to chemicals.
