Charlotte, N.C. based Raycom Sports is a leader for compelling storytelling, production and content distribution across all platforms. With an award-winning production team, Raycom Sports creates original feature programming, produces RSN College Football & Basketball and manages the Atlantic Coast Conference's archival footage, mobile applications, social media and the official ACC website.

Job Summary/Description:   
The Broadcast Engineer is responsible for operations and maintenance of Raycom Sports' mobile production units, facilities, and equipment. They primarily work on live remote sports productions, including setup, programming, operation, troubleshooting, repairs, inventory and packing of broadcast-related equipment and production trucks/trailers. This position is Charlotte, NC based and requires travel to event locations.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Setup, program, operate, repair and maintenance of mobile broadcast production units, internal production facilities and equipment
  • Installation, documentation, evaluation of new and replacement broadcast equipment 
  • Research and recommend new equipment and technologies to improve efficiency of production operations
  • Provide guidance and training to junior engineers and apprentices
  • Administration and coordination of equipment maintenance
  • Participate in technology-related projects 
  • Manage special projects as assigned
  • Be a team player with good work ethic to support coworkers, vendors and clients
  • Flexible work schedule including working days, evenings, weekends, holidays and emergency on call
  • Extensive travel is required both regionally and nationally
  • Percent of travel required: 95%
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education and/or Experience: 
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in broadcast engineering and/or remote production engineering experience.

Certifications and licenses: Current valid driver's license and good driving record required

Language Skills: 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: 
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference and volume. 
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: 
  • Proficient on Company-provided hardware and software. 
  • Proficient on broadcast and production hardware and software. 
  • Working Knowledge of IT Processes including Network Security, Workflow and Network Management.

Other Skills and Abilities: 
  • Ability to live up to physically demanding activities of this "broadcast and engineering" type of position.

Required
