Position Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President of Strategy, the Business Intelligence Analyst (Analyst, Business Insights & Analytics) will play a key role in transforming data into actionable insights using analytics, data visualizations, and data modeling. This individual is also responsible for collaborating across the organization for the purpose of collecting data, analyzing business requirements and processes, and recommending solutions to management and executives for implementation.
One of our core business priorities is to establish the processes, mindsets and skills required to convert data to rapid business intelligence and actionable insights, and to make analytics a strategic part of the ongoing fabric of the organization. You will not only expand our current capabilities but will help architect new ways for us to assess risk across our Acquisitions, Property Management, and Development teams. In this role, you will help lead our journey in analytics with the goal of building and leading your own team over time to support the company’s investment and portfolio management activities across geographies, industries, and asset classes.
Position Responsibilities & Duties:
Analyze and transform data into actionable insights for the business
- Design and develop analyses using a variety of datasets through Excel, SQL, Python, R, etc.
- Combine structured and unstructured data, and apply data modeling techniques to derive insights
- Work with Data Scientists and business stakeholders to design and fine-tune data
Collaborate cross-departmentally with numerous stakeholders across all levels of the organization
- Proactively analyze business requirements and create/implement unified solutions
- Collaborate within and across teams regarding their business needs and show how analytics can help
- Implement continuous improvement changes
- Communicate estimates, schedules, issues, and dependencies to management and technical team
Create data visualizations that deliver insights/analytics to the organization and executive team
- Create key performance indicators (KPIs) using data modeling and analytics
- Visualize KPIs through tools such as PowerBI or Tableau
- Monitor/update KPIs per the needs of the business
- Collaborate with technical team on best practices/approaches to data visualization and modeling
Assist in the design and development of complex and efficient self-learning models and applications
- Understand/willingness to learn data science modeling and statistical analysis
- Research and implement functional models in collaboration with the technical team
- Gather and manage business requirements and translate into actionable outputs with technical team
- Select appropriate datasets and data representation methods
- Perform statistical analysis and interpret results of statistical models
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience managing and transforming large data sets
- Experience creating/designing data models to inform business decisions.
- Solid foundation and experience in Excel, SQL, Python, R, or Access.
- Track record of managing ambiguity and developing creative solutions to complex problems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities, including the ability to communicate complex ideas to large groups and senior levels of management.
- Ability to execute in ambiguous situations and take the lead without explicit instructions.
Education and Experience:
- BS or MS in Statistics, MIS, or related STEM fields.
- 0-5 years of relevant experience as a business analyst, management consultant, or business intelligence analyst
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience creating data visualizations through Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
- Basic understanding of data structures and architecture.
- Previous consulting experience a plus
- Knowledge of database schema design best practices.
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks/concepts
