MATERIAL HANDLER - DISTRIBUTION CENTER

Description

At a Reinke Distribution Center a Material Handler will be responsible for aspects relating to, shipping, receiving, inventory, and order processing. The purpose of the Material Handler position is to unload/load; transport; inventory items to assigned locations.  Verify correctness of incoming/outgoing shipments; to gather, prepare, stage and load finished goods.   Identify the correct parts from packing list; pick the correct parts; package/box the order and prepare all related paperwork for the shipment.  The position will perform a wide range of tasks consistent with a parts warehouse employing few people.

• Must be capable of determining accuracy and condition of inbound deliveries and outbound customer shipments.  May be required to reconcile materials received to purchase orders within the computer system.
• Must have current valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Must be able to accurately identify, count, transfer and place component part inventories at designated locations.
• Must be able to demonstrate a positive company image through good communication and interpersonal skills to outside entities as may be required to interact with transportation, freight companies, customers, management of the company, and the general public. 
• Must be able to use hand and power tools correctly if required.
• Must be able to run a forklift and secure a forklift license if required.
• Must be familiar and cognizant of safety guidelines throughout the company.
• Must maintain a good attendance and punctuality record.
• Must be able to read and interpret load lists, packing lists, bill of lading, and shipping paperwork.
• Must be able to use and understand various specialized measuring tools and equipment unique to the job i.e. staplers, shrink-wrap, parts bundlers, scales, assembly tools, and other ordinary hand tools.
• Must be able to work with limited supervision and show/demonstrate initiative, tact, good judgment and sound reasoning.
• Must be able to handle the physical requirements of the position.
• Must have good organizational skills.
• May require the ability to learn and use the company’s computer system.
• Must have neat and legible handwriting.
• Will perform other related duties as directed by supervision.

This position requires the ability to learn and practice the proper operation of material handling equipment.  The position also requires the ability to learn and identify the various items used in company products.  Forklift and valid driver’s license for this position are a company requirement.  Requires a working knowledge of mechanized irrigation products and their applications. 

 The position requires at least 1 to 2 years or more of experience in the mechanized irrigation industry or other agriculture-related field.  Equivalent of a two or four year college degree preferred.  Initiative, ingenuity, analytical effort and good judgment are required in planning and executing responsibilities; for expanding the company’s presence and market share; and in providing excellent customer support and service to customers.

Requires regular communication with corporate management, other staff, and customers; utilizing email, phone or written communication.  Above average interpersonal relation skills; written correspondence and effective communication skills are required.  

Those employees working outside will be exposed to extreme weather conditions.
