Description
General Purpose of Position
The purpose of the Parts Shipper in Training position is to process packing list parts orders for irrigation dealerships. Parts Shippers in Training identify the correct parts from the packing list; pick the correct parts; package/box the order and prepare all related paperwork for shipment.
Essential Functions
- Must be capable of determining accuracy and condition of inbound deliveries and outbound customer shipments. May be required to reconcile materials received to purchase orders within the computer system.
- Must be able to accurately identify, count, transfer and place component part inventories at designated locations.
- Must be able to use hand and power tools correctly if required.
- Must be able to run a forklift and secure a forklift license if required.
- Must be familiar and cognizant of safety guidelines throughout the company.
- Must maintain a good attendance and punctuality record.
- Must be able to read and interpret load lists.
- Must be able to use and understand various specialized measuring tools and equipment unique to the job i.e. staplers, shrink-wrap, paper machines, and other ordinary hand tools.
- Must have good communication and interpersonal skills, as they may interact with other departments, and management of the company, and the general public.
- Must be able to work with limited supervision and show/demonstrate initiative, tact, good judgement and sound reasoning.
- Must be able to handle the physical requirements of the position. Must have neat and legible handwriting.
- May require the ability to learn and use the company’s computer system to identify parts and locations.
- Will perform other related duties as directed by supervision.
Describe Critical Skills, Experience, Training, Education, or Licenses Required
Requires the ability to learn and identify a wide range of finished goods products. May require the ability to obtain a company issued forklift license. Must be able to read and interpret load lists as well as the ability to read and use tape measures accurately.
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Personal Protective Equipment Used
May require the use of a forklift, ordinary hand tools, power tools, tape machines, pneumatic stapler, adding machine, and company computer. Requires the use of safety glasses with side shields, safety footwear, gloves, hard hat as necessary, and other personal protective equipment or clothing.
Describe Any Unusual Physical Requirements or Skills Required
Those Parts Shippers in Training working outside will be exposed to extreme weather conditions.
