GENERAL SUMMARY
To provide all guests with professional service and a pleasant environment, and to contribute to the profitability of the hotel by precise control of liquor and cash.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Being thoroughly knowledgeable in the mixing and portions of all beverages, liquor types and product stocked in the bar.
- Striving to consistently increase sales through suggestive selling and up selling by offering premium brands and house specials.
- Demonstrating teamwork by helping other employees when possible and by mixing beverages for other outlets when needed.
- Performing daily side duties assigned by the supervisor in an efficient and timely manner, along with all scheduled opening and closing duties.
- Conducting regular and frequent par checks on liquor stock and reporting variances to the manager immediately.
- Handling all liquor according to standard including requisitions transfers and spillage.
- Being accountable for all overages and shortages in the cash bank assigned, preparing a cashiers report and making the appropriate drop.
- Knowledgeable use of proper posting procedures; being responsible for all checks issued by the Accounting Department and for recording the form of payment on the check and all other cash handling reports.
- Practicing the standards of serving alcohol with care in a consistent and ongoing manner.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Reading, understanding and practicing hotel policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Demonstrating proper telephone procedures.
- Assisting with seating guests efficiently, ensuring proper service.
- Maintaining a clean work area throughout the shift, ensuring a safe environment for guests and staff.
- Communicate effectively with managers about needs and concerns.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Current Class 12 liquor permit required, plus Washington State Food Handlers permit.
- Excellent customer service skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a fast paced environment and multi-task
- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 1 year previous bartending experience
- Degree or certificate in mixology preferred.
