Description
The Overnight Supportive Staff person provides oversight and maintains the security and safety of the building and the residents. They perform regular checks of the facility and maintain a quiet environment for the residents. When applicable, they provide supportive services to support residents maintaining their housing. Residents of the program are unhoused individuals living on the street or in shelters who are engaged through the agency’s Homeless Outreach Program or referrals from the Chicago Continuum of Care partner agencies. This will include individuals with co-occurring serious mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and other health disorders. Overnight Supportive Staff will work as a team to ensure unhoused individuals are comfortable, are good tenants of the triage housing program and are preparing for permanent housing.

The basic skills needed for the position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for overnight operations of the Triage Bridge Housing program: creating an accepting, welcoming environment for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
- Offer activities to meet guests’ needs; help guests access coping techniques, restore sense of stability, purpose and hope;
- Assist guests in establishing achievable short-term goals, crisis recovery planning, and building tools to proactively avoid future crises and hospitalizations.
- Work as a team with other staff members. Participate in shift transition and team meetings. Participate in supervision with Team Leader;
- Assisting guests with getting food if needed.
- Helping to maintain a clean and sanitary site for all guests.
- Collaborate with other community entities re: referring participants for additional services.
- Communicate safety concerns about guests’ well-being to other staff, Team Leader and/or Program Director.
- Document services provided in a timely manner in keeping with expectations of the grant.
- Maintaining the confidentiality of guests’ information in any written, oral, or electronic form including, but not limited to, health information, HIV/AIDS status, and disability information. Releasing such information only as needed and with the proper release from the guest unless mandated by law;
- Reporting all incidents of abuse, and/or neglect as required by state law.
