Job Summary:
The Computer Operator or Sr. Computer Operator performs standard operational procedures and provides support services for internal and external users of the computers and peripheral equipment. The incumbent is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of information and services in a multi-disciplined computing environment, including initiating and monitoring application programs and systems utilities, and quality control.
Minimum Qualifications:
Computer Operator -
- High School diploma or G.E.D
- 1 or more years experience with computer and network equipment and operating software or relevant combination of education, training and experience.
- Valid US driver’s license.
Sr. Computer Operator -
- High School diploma or G.E.D
- 3 years progressively responsible related experience
Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Microsoft products and computer networks.
- Requires planning, organizing and effective time management skills.
- Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Requires ability to anticipate and solve problems.
- Ability to work independently, under pressure in a variety of technical situations and meet established goals and objectives.
- Requires excellent customer service skills
Shift: 2nd Shift - 3PM - 11PM, Friday - Tuesday (includes some weekends and/or holidays)
Expected Hiring Range: $17.25 - $19.85 / hr
- The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
