What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk Receptionist position at Retina Consultants Of Carolina PA?
We are looking for an experienced front desk receptionist who can learn new processes and workflows quickly. The candidate must be able to think independently and show good judgement to ensure patient satisfaction and high-quality care. This position reports directly to the Front Office Manager.
This position could either be part time working Tuesday and Wednesday in Greenwood or full time working those days in Greenwood and the rest of the week in Greenville.
Summary of Responsibilities
Responsible for checking in and checking out patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, collecting copays/deductibles/coinsurance/patient balances, and other duties as assigned by the manager.
List of Responsibilities/Duties
- Greets patients promptly and professionally
- Registers patients by gathering, verifying, and entering in demographic and insurance information
- Obtains signed consents
- Collects copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and patient balances
- Prepares day sheet and balances cash drawer each day
- Handles telephone receptionist responsibilities as needed
- Assists other front desk staff as needed
- Responds easily to routine requests for information
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times, and communicates with the compliance officer regarding procedural changes and concerns
- Participates in professional development efforts to remain current on insurance coverages and regulation matters
- Cooperates and communicates with all staff members and physicians about patient matters
- Issues proper receipts and maintains a balanced drawer.
- Contacting patients that miss their appointments to reschedule
- Other assigned duties may include:
- Oversee assigned physician schedule if applicable
- Managed assigned Physician Recalls

Minimum Demonstrated Skills
- Requires accuracy, thoroughness, and an understanding of office policies
- Requires ability to work as a team member
- Requires skills in operating computers, EMR software, word processing software, and copier machines
- Ability to multi-task and work at a fast pace
Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand, reach, bend and squat if necessary
- Must be able to communicate with patients and staff professionally and verbally via telephone and email system
- Must be able to sit at a computer for a long period of time and view/type computer data
