What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Specialist position at Rising Ground?
Position Details:
Job Summary: The Housing Specialist will develop relationships with landlords, developers, and property management companies to secure leases in affordable apartments for youth in the RRH program. The ideal candidate must have a vast knowledge of the NYC housing landscape and active relationship with individuals and entities who have apartments to rent.
Responsibilities:
Develop relationships with potential landlords.
Consistently seek apartments that are for rent in safe and affordable communities.
Ensure there is a constant pool of apartment resources.
Locate affordable apartments for youth to rent.
Secure leases for homeless youth in their own name and often more than one name
Act as a liaison between landlords and youth once they move into the apartments.
On-call for emergencies and crisis
Participate in weekly team meetings.
Conduct apartment inspections and ensure compliance with funder mandates.
Requirements:
· License as a Real Estate Broker or License as a Real Agent working under the license of a Licensed Real Estate Broker
· 2 years’ experience working with At Risk Youth preferred.
· Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes late evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 per year
