Job Description: Quality Assurance Supervisor

Quality Assurance Supervisor reports directly to the Head of Quality Assurance

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper execution of product Food Safety and Quality testing and reporting.
  • Maintains the Quality Management Systems (QMS) and verifies procedure compliance, including but not limited to: HACCP, GMP, Formula Control, and other supporting pre-requisite programs to meet the SQF Food Safety standards.
  • Lead the training and development of the Quality Assurance Technicians, scheduling and delegating tasks outlined in the Food Safety Plans, SOP manuals, and other supporting procedures, including monitoring and verification activities.
  • Management of the Non-Conforming Equipment and Product Program
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and assistance in problem solving efforts for SOP’s, GMP’s, Quality, Food Safety, and Process Improvement.
  • Assure compliance with specifications, customer expectations, and FDA/USDA regulations
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate within a cross functional organization.
  • Support and backup coverage for the Head of Quality Assurance/SQF Practitioner.
  • Management of outside testing, lab/QA equipment calibration, laboratory inventory, daily product release which includes product sensory and daily review cuttings, and record review.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

· Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of quality assurance or quality control experience within a food safety environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or equivalent experience
  • Skills and Knowledge
  • Competent in coaching and team development.
  • Good understanding of hygienic design
  • Theoretical and applied knowledge of HACCP/Food Safety Preventative Controls/SQF (or equivalent GFSI scheme)
  • Skilled in the development of SOP’s, policies, and job breakdowns.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be attentive to detail and demonstrate accuracy.
  • Ability to work in an ever-changing, fast paced environment.
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

Provision to cover for absence:

In the absence of the Quality Assurance Supervisor, The Head of Quality Assurance will be responsible to fill this role.
