Opening in early 2026, Riverside Smithfield Hospital will bring high-quality healthcare closer to home for Isle of Wight County residents. Located on a beautifully landscaped 27-acre medical campus at 19339 Benn’s Grant Boulevard in Smithfield, the new hospital will provide modern facilities and comprehensive medical services to meet the growing needs of the community.
The 200,000-square-foot, three-story facility will offer a range of essential healthcare services including an Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging Services, 38 Medical/Surgical beds, 12 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 4 Operating Rooms. Overview
Provides a wide range of administrative support to include financial counseling, cashiering, cash posting and receipt reconciliation, insurance verification, medical necessity, providing quotes, calculating and posting patient payments, charge entry validation and back-up registration support. Resolves patient issues, processes patient correspondence, handles petty cash and completes assigned work queues.
What you will do
- Provides a wide range of support to patients for the registration process to include financial counseling, cashiering, calculating and posting patient payments and charge entry validation.
- Resolves patient complaints and questions.
- Handles cashiering and balances cash drawer daily.
- Utilize price estimate tools to provide accurate pricing estimates to customers.
- Researches patient accounts for balance issues.
- Processes insurance/patient correspondence within 24 hours of receipt.
- Processes petty cash transitions for RHS staff.
- Provides back-up support for patient registration.
- Completes assigned work queue corrections daily.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Cross trained to support two or more other areas within the department.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
- Bachelors Degree, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field (Preferred)
Experience
- 2 years Revenue Cycle experience (Required)
Skills and Abilities
- Requires strong problem solving skills, high attention to detail and an aptitude for learning.
- Able to read and interpret Explanation of Benefit (EOB) and assist with questions.
- Requires knowledge of outside billing and collection vendors, along with financial policies to apply charity.
Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) - National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) (Required)
- CRCR - Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) (Preferred)
