Based in the Los Alamitos, California area, this opening for a Controller is a full-time position. Planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff will be essential for this role. Your responsibilities
- Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
- Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
- Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
- Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
- Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
- Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
- Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
- Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
- Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
- Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
- Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Requirements

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written, and listening)
- Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
- Prior work done in public accounting is desired
- Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
- Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
- Controllership Functions experience required
- General ledger experience
- Proven knowledge of auditing
- General familiarity with Job Cost
- Quality experience with Accounts Payable (AP)
- Well-founded grasp of financial auditing
- Wide ranging experience with financial reporting
- Good understanding of US GAAP
- Practical knowledge of Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Controllership experience
- Deep understanding of Controllership
- Earlier work involving SOX
- Month end closings experience
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
- Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
- CPA/MBA preferred
- Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes

Salary : $130,000 - $150,000
