The short-term contract Full Charge Bookkeeper will work is located in Mobile, Alabama. We are looking for people who can establish and maintain the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives, as well as handle all general accounting and bookkeeping functions, including the preparation of financial statements.
Your responsibilities in this role
- Preparing depreciation schedules by tracking fixed assets
- Supervising accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers
- Studying and implementing federal, state, and local legal requirements, filing reports, and communicating with management on needed actions
- Assembling the trial balance and financial statements, including balance sheet and income and cash flow statements
- Executing accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, such as collections
- Completing monthly, quarterly, and year end close, on time and in an accurate manner
- Filing documents to maintain historical records
- Handling bank and general ledger reconciliations, as well as payroll processing
Requirements
- Ability to multitask and attention to detail are critical
- A thorough knowledge of accrual and cash basis of accounting
- Highly capable of analyzing financial data and quickly creating accurate reports
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are a must
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in procedures and job assignments
- Proficiency with Excel, QuickBooks, and Peachtree
- Capable of working independently with minimal oversight
- High school diploma or equivalent, AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business preferred
- 3 years of bookkeeping experience
- Accounts Receivable (AR) experience highly desired
- Adeptness in Microsoft Excel
- QuickBooks Online experience
- Deep understanding of journal entries
- Command of bank reconciliations
- Foundational knowledge in Accounts Payable (AP)
- Previous experience with payroll preferred
