We are offering a contract to hire opportunity for a PMO Governance Support Specialist to join our team in the automotive industry. Based in Torrance, California, this role involves providing operational PMO support, developing project management guidelines, and reviewing projects for adherence to processes. The work environment will primarily be virtual, with potential in-person meetings or sessions as required.
Responsibilities:
Offer operational PMO support on a regular basis to ensure smooth functioning of projects
Develop and implement IT project management guidelines and templates to standardize project execution
Review and assess projects for adherence to J-Flow process, initiating corrective actions as necessary
Provide program/project management updates, including roles and responsibilities RACI, PMO Activity/Checklist, and financial management updates
Manage resource allocation and project estimation processes to ensure optimal use of resources
Deliver weekly status reports to keep stakeholders informed about project progress
Foster collaboration with multiple levels of leadership from project leads to IT/Business Team/Dept/Divisional leadership
Utilize tools such as Microsoft Azure DevOps, JIRA, Microsoft Office 365 suite, Microsoft Project and Visio for efficient project management
Identify gaps or areas of improvement in processes and/or deliverables and propose solutions
Work independently to resolve problems and maintain proactive work ethic. Proven experience in Project Management in the automotive industry
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and guide teams
Willingness to travel as per project requirements
Excellent communication skills to liaise with team members and stakeholders
Ability to collaborate effectively with different departments and suppliers
Experience in managing and ensuring deliverables within specified timelines
Knowledge of programming languages, specifically R code
Experience working onsite at client locations
Proficiency in cloud-based solutions like Microsoft Azure
Experience using project management tools like JIRA
Ability to create and manage templates for project documentation
Experience in implementing corrective actions to address project issues
Proficiency in MS Office 365 and MS Visio
Understanding of DevOps practices
Experience in financial management, specifically in preparing and managing budgets
Knowledge of governance principles in project management
Willingness to work overtime to meet project deadlines
Ability to create status reports and monthly financials for project stakeholders
Experience in PMO (Project Management Office) operations
Ability to create and manage resource plans for projects
Proficiency in project management software like Microsoft Project.
