Robert Half is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant with an eye for accuracy to fill a long-term contract / temporary to hire position at a growing Education - University company. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility. You will provide support in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will play an active role in compliance, collaborate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This very involved position works to produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. This company offers a challenging and multi-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded and the role is based in the Biddeford, Maine region.Your responsibilities in this role- Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP- Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation- Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting- Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation- Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner- Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules- Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested- Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll- Take part in various department-wide initiatives
