We are offering a contract to permanent opportunity for a Staff Accountant position in Galveston, Texas. The role is within the private lending industry and will involve maintaining and updating accounting documents and ensuring financial compliance measures are met.
Responsibilities
- Undertake the preparation and maintenance of accounting records, ensuring they are accurate and updated regularly.
- Handle the reconciliation of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Update and maintain the general ledger effectively.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of weekly/monthly reports.
- Assist senior accountants during monthly/yearly closings.
- Participate in other accounting projects as needed.
- Review and implement financial policies to ensure compliance.
- Perform monthly bank settlements efficiently.
- Maintain an accurate record of all financial transactions.
- Ensure receipts and bank statements are updated regularly.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role
- Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP)
- Familiarity with Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Expertise in performing Bank Reconciliations
- Ability to manage General Ledger
- Experience in preparing Journal Entries
- Proven ability to handle Month End Close procedures
- Knowledge of VLOOKUP function
- Proficiency in creating and managing Pivot Tables
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel -Banking/Real Estate/Mortgage background is a PLUS
