This is a Part-Time, 9-month, non-tenure track faculty position in theatre.
A summer contract may be offered when necessary to meet department needs. Teaching responsibilities may include courses such as Introduction to Performing Arts, Performance Studies, acting and physical performance courses. Additional responsibilities may include directing productions for the department, curriculum development, supporting fundraising efforts, and assisting the department with community relations.

Department/College Description
The National Technical Institute for the Deaf is one of the nine colleges of Rochester Institute of Technology, and is home to the world’s first and largest technological college for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
NTID Department of Performing Arts was established in the fall of 1974, with the opening of the college’s new permanent buildings, as an integral part of the curriculum following the success of the student drama club founded by Dr. Robert Panara in 1969. Today, NTID Department of Performing Arts offers an array of theatre courses and produces several productions per season. Current degree programs include a certificate in performing arts; minors in theatre design and stagecraft, dance, and ASL performance; and immersions in theatre design and stagecraft, and dance. The department has a unique interest in accessible and inclusive design for Deaf/hard-of-hearing and disabled audiences. The department collaborates with other colleges within RIT, especially with the School of Performing Arts in the College of Liberal Arts. We are also home to a professional traveling troupe, Sunshine 2.0, that provides performances and activities for deaf and hard-of-hearing children and adults that highlight the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM), as well as educational topics about the deaf experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Masters of Science in Theatre Education or closely related field.
- 10 years of experience teaching deaf and hard-of-hearing students who may utilize a variety of communication and learning modalities.
- Knowledge of Deaf theatre and practices, including experience directing or producing productions for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
- Knowledge of ASL, with a minimum NTID Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) rating of Intermediate Plus, or equivalent evidence of proficiency of ASL.
- 2 years of experience with fundraising or community relations activities.
- Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
