What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Parks position at Rock County?
This is work performing a variety of maintenance activities in the Rock County Parks. Perform related work as required. Public contact is required in the form of general park users as well as volunteer workers. Works under the direction of the Parks Manager.
Maintenance of parks, grounds, and facilities.
-Perform a variety of manual tasks such as staining, painting, buildings and signs, repairing picnic tables, collecting trash from parks and related work.
-Vegetation management, lawn, shrub and tree maintenance, including mowing, planting, seeding, watering, and fertilizing.
-Works with volunteer groups or individuals on various park improvement or maintenance projects.
-Monitoring boat launch ramps and collection of boat launch fees.
-Advise public of park rules and regulations and make calls via radio or cell phone to appropriate law enforcement agencies as needed.
-Building and facility care and maintenance, cleaning and sanitizing of restrooms and shelters, vandalism repairs and removal of graffiti and all general cleanup of park lands.
Maintains inventories of needed maintenance supplies and materials
-Maintain accurate inventories of materials used in the performance of carrying out various parks duties, including but not limited to various equipment repair, parts, parks signage, landscaping materials, as well as play apparatus and plant materials.
Perform Other Duties as Assigned
Ability to work independently
Ability to carry out written and oral instructions.
Ability to operates a variety of vehicles and equipment such as pic-up trucks, mowers, and specialized turf mowing and trimming equipment and other related equipment
Experience using mowers, pick-up trucks, lawn trimming equipment.
Prefer experience working in parks.
Must have valid driver's license
Ability to perform manual labor for prolonged periods of time.
Must be able to climb ladders and roof access ladders.
Ability to work from ladders or lifts and work overhead.
Ability to work while bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling or working in tight locations.
Ability to exert 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 20-50 pounds of force frequently, or 10-20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Work is both inside and outside County Building subjecting the employee to extreme conditions such as hot, cold, and inclement weather. Work includes contact with the public.
