This multi-skilled role involves the preparation, sanding, repair, and finishing of wood frames. The ideal candidate will have experience working with various wood finishes, stains, and repair techniques, and will be comfortable performing hands-on work in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties
- Furniture Repair:
- Repair damaged frames
- Assess the condition of items and determine appropriate repair techniques and materials.
- Sanding & Surface Preparation:
- Hand sand or use power tools to smooth surfaces in preparation for finishing.
- Remove old finishes using solvents, sandpaper, or stripping tools.
- Finishing:
- Apply stains, sealers, paints, lacquers, or other finishes using brushes, sprayers, or cloths.
- Match stains and finishes to existing colors and sheens as needed.
- Ensure a smooth, even, and high-quality finish across all pieces.
- Inspection & Quality Control:
- Inspect all completed work to ensure high standards of craftsmanship.
- Touch up or correct flaws as needed before final delivery or installation.
- Workplace Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Properly store tools, equipment, and chemicals in compliance with safety guidelines.
Qualifications
Position Requirements
- Proven experience in furniture finishing, woodworking, or restoration.
- Strong knowledge of wood types, finishing materials, and tools.
- Ability to use sanding equipment, hand tools, and spray guns.
- Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship.
